Cintra Bay, Marroc- Desert rides, ocean vibes
Cintra Bay or the Gulf of Cintra is a large, half-moon shaped bay on the coast of Rio de Oro province, Moroccan Western Sahara. It is located about 120 km (75 miles) south of Dakhlan and about 2 to 3 hours from the major European capitals. Its coastline is sparsely populated, and the environment is mostly wild and undeveloped.
The bay’s coastline and surrounding areas are part of the Moroccan Western Sahara Desert, being covered mostly by dunes, making Cintra bay’s vegetation very poor.
The friendly and hospitable population of this region, as well as a long history of culture and tradition, make this place ideal for those looking for a peaceful place away from the big urban centers in a calm and very relaxing environment, enjoying the tradition and customs of these wonderful people, especially the good food. such as fresh fish and goat or lamb meat prepared with local spices and full of flavor.

SPOT OVERVIEW
Watersports all day every day (a classic eat, kite, sleep repeat) while being surrounded by the charm of the Western Sahara.
The best winds are from April to September, but July and August are the windiest months with a 90% chance of wind every day.
The wind blows from around 10am and usually gets stronger during the day, picking up around 2 pm. In the evening it goes down again but basically you usually have the full day to kite if the wind is good.
The best waves are from October until May, when the wind chance is not the highest, so if you want to kitesurf in the waves the best months are October and March since then the wind chance is still the highest.
The most beautiful waves is with low tide were you can catch some perfect sessions.
The lagoon is pretty much a big playground with standing area and flat water. The wind can sometimes be a bit gusty but still quite stable and good for progressing or learning kitesurfing.
Water Temperature: wetsuit
Long Wetsuit throughout the year, in the summer you can go with a long wetsuit or shorty. It gets warm during the day but since it’s a desert it gets a bit chilly at night, remember to pack something warm and cozy for the evenings.
TRAVEL
Most flights from Europe go with Air Maroc via Casablanca to Dakhla (airport code: VIL). The stopover in Casablanca is usually just an hour or two. The great thing about Air Maroc is that your kitesurf luggage up to 23 kg (additionally to your normal luggage) is free of charge.
he only direct flight for Europe is starting from autumn 2017 with transavia from Paris Orly with prices starting at 69 Euros one way (without luggage) plus 44 Euros fee each way for kitesurf luggage (so add 88 Euros in total for sports luggage).
